Choreography

A new chapter is taking shape — works in progress, commissions, and collaborations.

His Unique Style

East meets West in motion.

Chun Wai Chan's choreographic voice is shaped by a unique blend of Eastern philosophy and classical ballet tradition. Beginning choreography at a young age, Chan first trained in Chinese folk dance, where he developed an understanding of rhythm, storytelling, and the use of "chi" — the internal energy and flow that gives movement emotional depth and intention. Later, through his professional ballet career and immersion in the Balanchine style, his movement evolved into one that combines speed, musicality, precision, and contemporary athleticism. His choreography often bridges these worlds, blending classical ballet vocabulary with modern music, cinematic movement, and emotionally driven storytelling that feels accessible to both seasoned dance audiences and new viewers alike.

Chan creates work across stage performances, film, fashion, and digital media, tailoring each project to the artists, collaborators, and music involved. His choreographic collaborations have included projects curated by Lauren Lovette and works presented at the Vail Dance Festival. In addition to theatrical creations, he is widely recognized for his movement direction and visual storytelling through social media and brand collaborations, bringing dance into contemporary culture in a fresh and cinematic way. Whether for the stage or for luxury and fashion campaigns, Chan's work transforms movement into a living visual language — giving brands and performances a dynamic identity beyond still imagery.
